Things that are worth knowing about the digital cameras
There is a certain belief that more megapixels the digital cameras have the better it is but this is not true. Surely, it gives you the ability to print large pictures and crop them aggressively but only professionals will benefit by this. Cameras with 5-6 megapixel resolution is quite ample if you are not going to print 8 x 10 size pictures or doing extensive computer editing. It is advisable to purchase a camera you can afford and easy to use than buying the models which complicate you. Digital cameras with more photo power is better for taking distant pictures of wildlife or close up of portraits since the ultimate control of optical zoom is 3- or 4 megapixels.
The digital cameras with extended zoom is becoming popular very fast with newer optical zoom models such as 8-, 10-, 0r 12 X. Extended zoom camera s with image stability which will create a clear shot even without a tripod.
There are two varieties of Digital cameras. AA size battery operated and proprietary lithium-on batteries. If you are a person who goes into remote places it is best to use Digital cameras with AA batteries since proprietary battery operated digital range of cameras needs a power outlet when it runs out of power and a battery charger and a power converter if you are in a foreign country. So AA size battery operated cameras are the best choice.
The digital cameras which are operated with AA-size batteries have certain benefits.
If your camera runs out of power when you are on a tour all you have to do is replace them with new set of high performance AAs like the energizer E2 Lithium line. Two or three sets of such batteries can be used for about 10 days. You also have the option of using standard alkaline batteries which are easily available anywhere in the world if you run out of high performance batteries. But these batteries have half life shelf than the high performance batteries.

The defect was that it used to produce crippling error messages and black lines would appear on the LCD but the newer digitals cameras are free of defects and are problem free.
