French Army

if I apply for french nationality does that mean I have to join the french army?

I am applying for it soon, but I have heard you have to join the french army, however I also heard of some kind of reform saying that it is not compulsory anymore.

President Jacques Chirac announced the end of conscription on the 28th of May 1996 and went into effect 28 th of October 1997. So there is no more conscription.
You must speak french and know about the Republic of France.
